The Olympic torch relay by São Paulo was historical on Sunday, 24th July. Chosen to be one of the Torch bearers, Gisela Solymos, general manager of CREN, had the support of her entire team. (Watch).

Gisela emphasized the symbolism of the torch. “The relay of the torch comes from a Greek tradition of calling a temporary peace in any wars taking place when the Olympics were scheduled to begin. Therefore, the torch was closely associated with peace. ”

Thinking of the Brazilian reality, Gisela highlighted the importance of solidarity to overcome national challenges. “By accepting to carry the Torch, my desire was to draw attention to the fact that peace is built with charity. And, unfortunately, this condition is still threatened in Brazil, once we have millions of children and young people socially excluded. This vulnerability is directly related to an unfavorable condition of food and nutrition, which is reflected in low quality of life. ”

Over 12,000 torchbearers will carry the Olympic flame through 329 Brazilian cities, until the lighting of the cauldron at the opening ceremony, on 5th August.
