22 maio CREN CELEBRATES FOOD REVOLUTION DAY
CREN’s children participated in a very special day at Jamie’s Italian restaurant in São Paulo. Food Revolution Day is the annual celebration of an ongoing global campaign that provokes debate and inspires real, meaningful, positive change in the way children access, consume and understand food.
Our kids arrived early at the restaurant where Chef Lisandro Lauretti helped 31 children to prepare their own breakfast with fruit, yogurt and cereal. After getting to know how pasta is made, the children had lunch. CREN Vila Mariana’s Coordinator, Léa Regina Marques, described the event: “Food Revolution Day was a unique experience for the children, who rarely have the opportunity to be in a restaurant as Jamie’s Italian.”

The movement, which was conceived by the British chef Jamie Oliver, believes that good food education enables people everywhere to develop a better understanding and balanced relationship with food, which in turn empowers them to make responsible, healthy and sustainable food choices for life.
Currently, 41 million children under the age of five are overweight or obese, while another 159 million are too short for their age. The global action was celebrated this year on 20th May and reached more than 115 million people worldwide.
